Physical map of the world. I forgot to put Kayra/Khë'ire on it when I drew it. The four continents pictured are Nourdestille (north), Tayega (east), Vaizhen (south), and Hyn'iewe (west).test
Political map of the world. All of the countries shown here are written with their Septentrian exonyms, but this is absolutely not how a Septentrian cartographer would draw a map of the world. I'd like to fix that at some point and either make a more objective map with all of the countries' (romanized for everyone's convenience) endonyms, or a more subjective map that a Septentrian cartographer might make.
For clarity on some of the territory drawn on the map here + random lore stuff:
- All of those little green polkadots on Kireen/Qirin land are ports and trading posts set up by Beck/Bekh, which are sanctioned by treaties with Qirin leaders.
- Even though only the coast of Kervay/Kerwe is shown on the map as Septentrian territory, Septent exerts huge political and economic control over all of Kerwe and has a large military presence there.
- The blue and cyan striped piece of land illegibly titled "The Foglands" is used by both Septent and West Huhriyella/H'rjele, but neither of them exactly own it, or care very much about what happens there. The area is nearly uninhabitable for humans, and both countries (+ East Huhriyella/Na'ashiëwe occasionally) send criminals there sometimes as opposed to executing or imprisoning them.
- The terms Sheeshiree/Xixiri and Qirin are sort of umbrella terms that apply to many smaller groups of people, some of whom are closely intertwined with one another, and some of whom are highly isolationist or hostile to other groups. The main difference between the two amalgamate terms is that "Xixiri" is used by and for more seafaring peoples, and "Qirin" is for the forest and wetland-dwelling peoples of Tayega. The rest of the world does not know very much about individual Qirin groups, except maybe some individuals from places like Bekh, which trades frequently with Qirin groups and has good relations with many, or Pilna and southern Neekav/Nekavla, which both have high Qirin populations compared to other countries.
- Kayra/Khë'ire is a fully independent country, but it is unfortunate enough to a) have once been a territory of H'rjele, b) be reasonably close to Septent, and c) not have the resources to become a major enough economic or military power to defend against those two countries. Therefore, most of its major ports are controlled by either Septent, or H'rjele so that they can use them for trade, military outposts, and resource extraction. The conditions for its independence are also kind of dependent on it submitting to H'rjelen demands, too. It's a bit of a puppet state, which many of the people living there are very unhappy about.
- Girotania is currently at war with Mileyn over a piece of magically dense territory.
- Kezyna doesn't control Nashka, but it has some colonies there, and a pretty big influence over its economy.
